Is Brian Lara set to play for Edgware's ROW XI?
Is Brian Lara in line to appear for the ROW XI for the Edgware inter-club fixture against an India XI on Thursday 10th April at Canons High School? No.
However, that being said, the ROW XI have plenty of players up their sleeve for the greatly anticipated fixture which should see a return to club cricket for many great past and present Edgware CC players. Although no official confirmation has been made by ROW XI captain Ciaran Hosty, it appears as though the ROW XI squad may include 11 from the following:
Ciaran Hosty (c) - Ireland/England
Sajith Sriwickramasekaran (vc) - Sri Lanka
Naresh Sriwickramasekaran - Sri Lanka
Jude Saverus - Sri Lanka
Tush Sonecha - Kenya
Raj Parmar - Tanzania
Dean Veerapen - Mauritius
Hishaam Junaideen - Sri Lanka
Ihtishaam Malik - Pakistan
Ananya Dixit - Jamaica
Kashyap Varsani - Kenya
Vidanda Galgamuwa - Sri Lanka
Ben Rawlings - England
In the opposing camp, the India XI are yet to decide on their captain for the fixture with Nakul Jilka, Shuraj Vekaria and Kishan Varsani all competing for the role. The India XI should more or less pick itself with the side required to pick those who appeared in 2019 first, before having the option to select other players.
The inter-club fixture is set to start at 11am on Thursday 10th April at Canons High School and will be a 35-over fixture. The fixture will also include the following 'quirky' rules to create a open and encompassing fixture:
a. Bowlers may bowl a maximum of 6 overs
b. Batsmen will need to retire not out at 50, but may return following the dismissal of all other batsmen
c. All players in the team minus the designated wicket-keeper will be required to bowl a minimum of 1 over in the game (subject to a full 35-overs being bowled)
