Edgware elect to postpone Australian Tour
The Edgware Cricket Club Executive Committee met on Saturday 20 June to discuss the upcoming Australian tour as well as a number of other key issues. The outputs of these discussions are as follows:
Australia Tour
The Executive Committee decided to postpone the planned Australian Tour which was scheduled to take place from October 25 - November 6 2020. Instead, a decision will be made over the next couple of weeks, with player consultation, as to if and when this will be re-scheduled.
As it stands, the ICC are due to make a final decision on the T20 World Cup in mid-July and it is suspected that this will be postponed to either March or October 2021. Players may opt to reschedule the tour in line with the tournament, but ultimately will be governed by the terms and conditions of their respective Etihad Flights. The re-booking/cancellation options available for those who paid in full are detailed below:
For those who booked using the deposit scheme, it is advised that you cancel your flight before the August deadline so that you will only be accountable for the £49 deposit paid earlier in the year.
A short survey will be sent to all Australia tour participants in the next few days to gauge their interest in rescheduling the tour and preferred dates.
Alternative Tour Options (October/November 2020)
In order to make up for the loss of the Australian tour this year and subject to Government travel restrictions being lifted, the Executive Committee decided to identify possible tour alternatives for October-November 2020. These may include trips to Malaga, La Manga or Porto. Interest for this will be gauged in the same survey for the Australian tour.
2020 Fixtures
The Executive Committee have decided that depending on when the Government gives the all clear for cricket season to resume, Edgware Cricket Club intend to organise fixtures on every weekend for the remainder of the 2020 season. There will be no obligation for players to take part in every game and the Committee feel that the natural rotation of players will allow everyone in the wider squad an opportunity to play at some point in 2020.
Club Subscriptions
The Executive Committee have agreed a 25% reduction in annual subscription fees for 2020 due to the loss of two home games this season. Once the Government give the all clear to play, the new subscription fees and the names of those obligated to pay them will be circulated to the wider group.
Cricket Nets Refurbishment
The Executive Committee have been in touch with the School Manager at Canons High School who has agreed conditionally to the refurbishment of the Canons High School Cricket Nets. Edgware Cricket Club will meet with specialists over the next couple of weeks in order to determine a quote for the work, with the aim of completing the refurbishment by March 2021. Subject to the size of the quote, Edgware Cricket Club may look to launch a fundraising campaign and details of this will be made available in due course.
