50 days to go until the 2023 season! What do you need to know?

Just as quickly as it ended, the 2023 cricket season is now just 50 days away. For ease, we've consolidated all the key information ahead of this year's season in one place.

Fixtures

Edgware have released their fixture list for the 2023 season which includes 36 fixtures played across 25 weekends. There will also be a first tour to Bath with further details listed below. Please also note, the fixture against Ickenham on the 14th May has been moved to the 21st May to accommodate Ickenham's Club Cricket Conference fixture.

Subscriptions, Match Fees and Fines

Subscriptions for the 2023 season will continue to be based on the amount of games played in the previous season. As per 2022, there are three categories (A, B and C) and we are pleased to announce there have been no cost increases for this year. Please can we ask all players to pay their subscriptions by 30 April 2023. Failure to do so, will see a 10% penalty. If the subscription has not been paid by May, players will no longer be eligible for selection.

For those players not in the category system, a £10 subscription will be added upon completion of your fifth match.

As per the 2022 season, match fees will remain as £10 for all home matches and £3 for all away fixtures (£5 where tea is served). These may change on occasion, for example when an umpire is required or a ground share is agreed between clubs. The club captain will arrange and circulate the fine list for 2023 by end of March.

India v ROW

The first game of the season sees the return of the fiercely contested India vs ROW inter-club game. India are 2-0 in the series but ROW will be heartened by their performances in the past two seasons which has led to increasingly tight margins of victory for India. The game will take place on Saturday 1st April at Paddington Recreation Ground and will provide a great opportunity for 22 players to dust off their rustiness ahead of what will be an action packed season.

Hertfordshire Saturday Cricket League

Edgware's Saturday adventure continues on Saturday 6 May as they take on Cheshunt Rosedale at Watford Town Cricket Club in the first game of our Division 11E campaign. Also in the league is local rivals Old Camdenians and Mill Hill Village as well as old friends, Southgate Adelaide. Edgware will be hoping for a top spot finish this year which should secure the club a berth in Division 9 for the 2024 season.

Chess Valley League

Despite an unfortunate relegation in 2022, Edgware will be confident of pushing for promotion places in the 2023 Chess Valley League (Division 4). Edgware start their campaign against Ickenham who were also relegated in 2022 and are set for some tough fixtures including four fresh faces in what should be an exciting Sunday campaign.

Tour to Bath

Edgware are set to tour for the first time since 2021 when they visited sunny Malta. Unbelievably, it was the first time Edgware had ever secured a positive tour result having drawn or lost every tour prior. Edgware will come up against Lansdown CC and Winsley CC who play in and around the Bath area and whilst we anticipate some good challenge from both of the hosts, the recovery post a night on the town will likely be the greatest challenge facing the boys in blue.

The tour will take place between Friday 8th September and Sunday 10th September and the total cost per person (excl. travel) is likely to be in the region of £160-£200 for two nights and two matches. There will be a cap on the number of playing members (12) but we invite as many players as possible to attend for social-only. It will cost £60 to secure your place and you are welcome to pay your deposit from the 1st March with all deposits required by 31st March.

We'd like to wish all of our players the best for what should be an amazing 2023 season and we hope the club every success on and off the pitch!
