Edgware CC to tour Australia in 2020
Edgware CC have today announced that they will tour Australia in 2020 as part of their 5-year anniversary celebrations. The tour to Australia has long been on the agenda for the Edgware CC board and following the post-AGM vote on tour preferences, Australia received 88% of the vote from participants.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for all of the boys who decide to step on the plane to Australia. As many of us move into our mid to late twenties, it's unknown how long we can continue to play this great game. With Australia being a real pinnacle of our sport and a pilgrammage-esque location, it will no doubt be our most adventurous and satisfying tour to date" - Spoke captain Ciaran Hosty at Kabul Restaurant.
So what will a tour to Australia look like for Edgware CC?
Duration & Location
The Edgware CC tour to Australia will take place in one major city, Sydney. Arriving in late October, the cricket itinerary will see 3 to 4 fixtures (depending on squad size) take place over a 9-day window. This 9-day period (inc. 4 weekend days), will be the only period in which Edgware cricketers will be obligated to join up with the touring party. Edgware touring members will then have the option to extend their holiday either before or after the cricket-part of the tour to explore all the wonders that Australia has to offer.

Possible Teams
The Edgware fixture secretary has already been in contact with a number of sides over the last two months and these include, the Cricketers Club of New South Wales, Sydney Cricket Club, I Zingari Cricket Club Australia, Reg Bartley XI and Bowral CC amongst others. This could mean the Edgware boys may get the opportunity to play at some of the finest cricket grounds in New South Wales, including the famous Bradman Oval in Bowral and Rushcutters Bay Oval.

Activities
However, it's not all about cricket and with more than 100 beaches, Sydney boasts some of the finest coastline in the world. Home to the famous Bondi and Manly beaches, New South Wales is also home to the famous Blue Mountains, Taronga Zoo, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and of course the Sydney Cricket Ground. In addition to the sightseeing, the Edgware boys will also have the opportunity to attend games from the T20 World Cup which is taking place across Australia during the same period.
Costs
With flights ranging anywhere from £450-£800, and with an option for flexible payments using agencies such as STA Travel, the boys can pay for their flights in either weekly or monthly instalments should they so choose. In addition to this, Sydney is known for being a back-packer city, and accommodation can range anywhere from £20p/w to £250 p/w depending on whether you'd like a single room or whether you're happy to share with 3-5 other people.
Possibility of an additional tour?
100% of the Edgware team also voted for a potential second tour, depending on pricing. This opens the door for an early-season tour to a short-haul destination including but not limited to, the Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, Malta or even other parts of the UK. The boys will have the option to vote for these destinations over the next month should they so choose.

So Rick Titball and I would like to wish the boys in blue all the very best for their tour to Australia in 2020, we'll be watching on with eagle eyes.
Poopenshaft out.
