Hosty to step down as captain after 2020 season
On Saturday 3 October, Edgware Cricket Club will walk onto the field under the captaincy of Ciaran Hosty for the final time, as the club founder announced his decision to step down on Monday.
Hosty, who has captained the club a record 71 times, won 40 of his games in charge and maintained a 88% win percentage in league cricket with back to back promotions in the Chess Valley League in 2018 and 2019.
"[Stepping down from the captaincy] is not something I have taken lightly and it's something that I've thought about for a while. It has been a pleasure to captain this team over the past six seasons and we have continued to punch well above our weight both on and off the field. The way the guys have grown as cricketers and more importantly as people will be the thing I am most proud of during my spell", spoke Hosty at a press conference at the club HQ.
The club will announce a new club captain over the next couple of months.
