Jeet becomes youngest 100-maker as Edgware thrash Harrow Indians

Jeet Swaminarayan became the youngest Edgware player ever to score a hundred as he led Edgware to a comprehensive victory against Chess Valley League opposition, Harrow Indians.

Jeet was in mesmerising form on Sunday as he struck an imperious 126 to help Edgware build a mammoth 313-6 off their 45 overs. He was duly supported by wicket-keeper batsman, Shuraj Vekaria who looked equally impressive and who notched up his 2nd fifty of the season looking arguably in his best form since 2019. In the process, Jeet and Shuraj smashed the Edgware record for the 2nd wicket as they put on 214 to place Edgware in a commanding position.

There were steady contributions throughout the remainder of Edgware's innings as Harrow Indians struggled to maintain any sort of consistency. Sagar Raghvani in particular looked full of confidence and struck 51 not out off 46 balls to accelerate Edgware past the 300 mark.

In response, Sajith Sriwickramasekaran showed once again why he continues to lead from the off with the new ball in hand. The Sri Lankan left armer removed Harrow Indians' opener and number three to reduce the visitors to 15-2. Tidy bowling from the Edgware bowling unit followed as they continued to peg down Harrow Indians with wickets at regular intervals. Sagar Raghvani making his first bowling appearance of the year was electric and bowled with good pace and bounce as he ended with figures of 4/46, a personal best.

Tushyam Sonecha collected the final wicket of the innings on his 50th apperance to bowl out Harrow Indians for 232 and complete an 81-run win. The win pushes Edgware up the table and they will surely need to win at least two of their remaining three fixtures to have even an outside chance of promotion. Their next Chess Valley League game is on Sunday 23 July against Hemel Hempstead Town.
