Minutes from Edgware CC Executive Committee - April '23
In late April, the Edgware Cricket Club Executive Committee met to discuss all cricket matters ahead of the 2023 season. The key takeaways from the discussions were as follows:
1. Subscriptions
The Executive Committee agreed an increase in subscriptions for new players/players not in the existing fee structure from £10 (2022) to £15 (2023). Edgware subscriptions are calculated based on the number of games played in the previous season with players bucketed into Category A (£50 for year), Category B (£40 for year) and Category C (£30 for year) depending on the volume of games played in 2022. However, until 2022, new players or players not included into the Category tiers (i.e. played below a set number of games in the previous year) were not subject to any subscription in the upcoming season. The Executive Committee now believe the system catches all eventualities and most importantly will provide the club with extra income to account for any unanticipated costs.
Separately, the committee agreed that non-payment of yearly subscriptions by the end of May will result in non-selection for the 2023 season.
2. Students & Unemployed Discounts
Edgware have introduced 50% discounts to subscriptions and match fees for students and unemployed players. All players will need to show proof of education enrolment prior to the season commencing to qualify for the discount. Similarly, unemployed players will need to prove they are currently out of work.
3. Dharmish Bhatt Memorial Bench
Edgware confirmed delivery of Dharmish's bench to Watford Town Cricket Club on Friday 5th May 2023. The bench will be unveiled at the next Watford home game, set for Saturday 20th May 2023 against Mill Hill Village.
4. Summer Nets
The committee confirmed that summer nets would be trialled at Watford Town Cricket Club for the 2023 season. This will allow the squad to use the outfield for fielding practice and the nets at minimal cost. Nakul Jilka will arrange the nets similar to the indoor net sessions held in the off-season.
5. Fine List
The fine list was reviewed for the 2023 season and will be released shortly.
6. Expense Policy
An expense policy has been introduced for 2023. Any players looking to expense costs to the club will need to fill out a form prior to making the expense and agree to the limits set out by the committee.
7. Charity Day
The Executive Committee have agreed to hold a charity day for 2023 and raise funds for the Cardiac Risk in the Young. The Charity Day fixture will be announced in due course and will include games, food/drinks, raffles and an auction to help raise money.
8. Saturday 2nd XI - Friendly League
Edgware will introduce a Saturday 2nd XI for the 2023 season which will take part in the Hertfordshire Saturday Cricket Friendly League. The league does not have a minimum requirement on the number of matches needed to be played and is designed to allow clubs to field additional teams when and if they have surplus. The committee hope that participation in the friendly league over the next couple of seasons will help to set up the club for introducing a 2nd XI in the league pyramid proper ahead of the 2025 season.
9. Vidanda Galgamuwa - Joining Executive Committee
Vidanda Galgamuwa will join the Executive Committee in May '23 after unanimous approval. The Executive Committee will now be set out as follows:

Sajith Sriwickramasekaran - Club Captain
Nakul Jilka - Director of Cricket (Nets and Junior Pathways)
