ROW XI set sights on inter-club title
The squads for the 2022 inter-club fixture have been released by the club this morning and there are some noticeable omissions from Team India. Nakul Jilka, Shuraj Vekaria and Suraj Kerai are all set to miss the annual curtain-raiser as ROW XI welcome back captain Sajith Sriwickramasekaran who missed the 2021 edition with an injury.
The absentees in the India camp means that Ananya Dixit will captain the Indian XI and Rahul Kothari will serve as vice-captain.
The full squads can be found below:
This year's fixture will be a 35-over game starting at 11:30am at Paddington Recreation Ground. The club would like all players to arrive to the ground by 11am to help set-up and the toss will take place at 11:15am. For those interested, there will be an optional net at 10:00am in the adjacent nets.
Match Rules for 2022 Inter-Club:
All players must wear coloured kits. ROW XI must wear ROW XI shirt as per last year or a suitable yellow top alternative. India XI must wear India XI shirt as per last year or a suitable India cricket top.
If a side cannot field 11 players, they may use LastManStands (i.e. the last batsman can bat alone).
Every player besides a designated wicket-keeper must bowl at least one over. Failure to do so will result in 15 penalty runs per bowler not used (at the end of the full 35 allotment).
Bowlers can bowl a maximum of 6 overs. However, once a bowler has taken 3 wickets, they must be taken out of the attack at the end of their current over.
Batsmen must retire once they score 50 runs. However, they may return at the end of the innings once all other wickets have been taken.
A no-ball will result in a free-hit for the batting team.
Form Guide:
This year's game will be only the second inter-club fixture ever held, after the 2020 edition was cancelled due to COVID-19. India secured a dramatic 24-run victory in 2021 and the ROW XI will fancy their chances to tie the series 1-1 this year.
